The comic strip "Truths and Lies" by Dakota Ray has taken the internet by storm, captivating audiences with its humorous take on the age-old "truth and lies" puzzle. This black-and-white comic, currently trending on Reddit, cleverly blends classic riddle elements with a fresh and comedic twist.

In the first panel, the scene is set in a long, dramatic hallway where two guards stand vigil with spears. A smaller, medieval-looking character approaches them. The tension is palpable, emphasized by the radial lines in the background. One guard declares, "To enter, you must first pass our test!" while the other adds, "One of us tells the truth. The other, nothing but lies."

The second panel zooms in on the smaller character, who appears concerned and thoughtful. With a blank background highlighting the character's deep contemplation, the character asks, "Do you two truly love each other?"

The third panel offers a close-up of the guards' faces, which resemble anthropomorphic canines. One guard, with a stoic expression, simply responds, "No."

The final panel zooms out to show the two guards holding hands and looking lovingly at each other, directly contradicting the previous answer. The background fades from white to dark gray, adding depth to this amusing revelation.

Reddit users have shared their thoughts on this engaging comic. One user praised the artwork, saying, "The last panel facial expression is drawn exceptionally well." Another commented on the clever twist, noting, "This classic puzzle doesn't work if one of the robots tells you the rules. If he's lying about the rules then you have no hope of solving the puzzle."

Fans of popular culture have also chimed in, with one user noting, "Rick and Morty did a gag like this once," while another was reminded of a scene from the 1986 film "Labyrinth."

The comic has sparked discussions on various interpretations of the riddle. One user commented, "Which one said one of us tells the truth but the other only lies bit because this might be immediately solvable or have infinite possibilities." Another added a humorous solution, "I prefer the big-brain berserker approach of killing one and then asking the other if the one you killed is dead or not."

"Truths and Lies" by Dakota Ray is a brilliant example of how classic puzzles can be reimagined with humor and creativity. The comic's engaging storyline and clever twist have made it one of the best-loved posts on Reddit, with users eagerly sharing their interpretations and praising the artist's talent.

I like it. I wonder how it would have worked if it was the exact same panels, unchanged artwork, but with “Yes.” instead.

Drafo7

You drew this on a *3DS?* Wtf who'd you sell your soul to to get that kind of talent?

Just to be clear, are the bubbles attributed to both sentries simultaneously in both cells so they are speaking in unison?

Really thought this was a good one. I must ask what started this concept for having two guards like this? Intested in the story behind it.

This is the best comic I've seen on reddit in years. The most upvoted posts on /r/comics are atrociously asinine. Really cool concept. Clever and amusing.

This classic puzzle doesn't work if one of the robots tells you the rules. If he's lying about the rules then you have no hope of solving the puzzle (since the rules could be anything except those rules). If he's telling the truth, well, then he's the truth teller and there's no puzzle.

Which one said one of us tells the truth but the other only lies bit because this might be immediately solvable or have infinite possibilities.

ReasonablyBadass

Wait, no guard could be lying and other guard has genuine reaction. Or no guard says the truth and the other is faking tears
