The Suspicious Water Fountain: A Public Restroom Dilemma

A recently surfaced image on Reddit has sparked a heated debate about hygiene and design in public restrooms. The image, titled "Suspicious water fountain," showcases a peculiar setup in a public restroom that has left many users baffled and concerned.

The restroom features three white u*****s mounted on a light green tiled wall, each equipped with a white plumbing pipe extending down to the floor. Positioned immediately to the right of these u*****s is a stainless steel drinking fountain, installed at the same height as the u*****s. The light beige ceramic tile floor and the decorative horizontal stripe of darker green tiles running along the middle of the walls contribute to a clean and orderly appearance, but it's the proximity of the drinking fountain to the u*****s that has everyone talking.

Reddit users were quick to express their disgust and disbelief. One user commented, "I cannot imagine a situation where I would want a drink of water with the strong smell of u**** hanging in the air competing with the occasional grunt and release of that guy in the cubicle trying to pretend he’s not taking a dump." Another user humorously noted, "Way too close to the 'splash zone'."

Speculations about the fountain's use and cleanliness abounded. "My guess is that the water from the fountain is being used as gray water for flushing toilets. This is good from an environmental perspective... but the proximity to the toilets, a bit sus," one user suggested. Another comment pointed out the potential health risks: "Still nasty as hell. Think about how often stores actually clean and disinfect water fountains. Now imagining in a p*** s*** room and still getting the same treatment. No way in hell are they properly cleaning and sanitizing that room let alone that water fountain."

Some users were curious about the regulations surrounding such installations. "I'm curious as to where this is. In Florida, drinking fountains are not allowed in restrooms, it's against the building code (and other codes). I would like to believe this is the same across the U.S. This could also have been built a long time ago," one user remarked.

The general consensus among commenters was that the setup is massively unhygienic and should be against code. "If the authorities saw that they'd probably get fined like hell and ordered to change it," one user stated emphatically. Another simply concluded, "Not worth it for so many reasons."

The image has certainly brought attention to an important issue regarding public health standards in restroom design. While the bright lighting and clean appearance of the restroom might give an initial impression of hygiene, the questionable placement of the drinking fountain next to u*****s has left many people uneasy. Whether this setup is a relic of outdated design practices or an oversight in modern regulations, the discussion it has generated highlights the need for careful consideration of hygiene in public spaces.

I mean, my guess is that the water from the fountain is being used as gray water for flushing toilets. This is good from an environmental perspective... but the proximity to the toilets, a bit sus
