A recent viral video on Reddit titled "Amazon Kids?" has ignited a heated discussion about child labor and the ethics of bringing children to work. The video shows a child seemingly assisting with Amazon package deliveries, and it has garnered a wide range of reactions from viewers.

One user humorously commented, "Bring your kid to work day is every day," while another added, "That kid is better at delivering packages than most adults that deliver packages." Some comments took a more serious tone, with one noting, "The children yearn for the sweatshops," and another stating, "Child labor seems like something Amazon would do."

A particularly nostalgic comment read, "I used to bring my grandkid to do Amazon flex. He would sit in the back seat of my caravan and put the next package in the passenger seat. By the time I had the package down on the porch and taking the pic, he would be yelling, 'what's the next number!' It would easily make a 4-hour block into a 2-hour run, just for having that kind of response time with the package."

Others speculated about the repercussions for the delivery driver, with one user saying, "I think that is the child of the delivery person who just got so fired." Another added a touch of humor with, "That's Alexa."

The video also sparked a broader conversation about child labor laws and societal norms. One user pointed out, "Child labor has been on the rise for quite some time at astonishing numbers," linking to an Axios article on the topic. Another user reflected on personal experience, stating, "I had a paper route when I was 11 or 12 and went around delivering newspapers to houses and apartments. Ultimately I don't know if this is really any different."

However, not everyone found the situation appropriate. One user expressed concern, "Parent probably brought them with them instead of trying to find expensive daycare. Judging by her little strut at the end she probably was excited to wear the vest and all lol and she might have asked if she could do it. But still, shouldn't be letting your child do labor period, especially for no pay."

The video has also attracted comments critiquing societal and economic conditions. One user wrote, "More children are working now than any time since the first child labor laws were enacted over 100 years ago. There is nothing funny about our American society moving backwards in so many ways."

As this video continues to circulate, it raises important questions about the balance between family responsibilities and work, the ethics of child labor, and the broader implications for society. Whether seen as a humorous anecdote or a troubling sign of the times, "Amazon Kids?" has certainly captured the internet's attention.

I get how this looks, but other than having to have someone drive them, is it meaningfully different from a paper route? I had a paper route when I was 11 or 12 and went around delivering newspapers to houses and apartments. Ultimately I don't know if this is really any different.

One of my co-workers is a guy about 5'2" and looks like he's 12 years old. They were giving him sh*t one day about getting his drivers license soon (sure he's heard it all before), and he barked back "I have a Bachelor's Degree!"
