A simple yet amusing black-and-white stick figure comic has sparked quite the conversation on Reddit. Titled "For safety," this comic features two female characters engaged in a humorous exchange about personal protection.

In the comic, one character, curiously holding a small purse, asks the other, "So, do you carry a mace when you go out?" The punchline is delivered when the other character is seen casually holding an actual medieval-style mace, a spiked ball-and-chain weapon, instead of a purse. The exaggerated round eyes and prominent lashes of the characters add an extra layer of humor to the scene.

Reddit users were quick to react, with comments ranging from confusion to constructive criticism. One user pointed out, "No, she does not carry a mace. That is a morning star." Another user offered advice on improving the joke, suggesting, "I'd change 'a mace' to 'your mace' to allow for some ambiguity for the reader."

Some users reminisced about similar jokes from popular media, with one noting, "This joke (that two different weapons have the same name) is already well documented. I think Animaniacs covered it for reference." Others humorously questioned the practicality of the scenario, stating, "Hey, it would do a better job repelling a robber than pepper spray ever could lol."

Despite some criticism, many found the comic amusing. One user commented, "Pretty good. I like it," while another added, "I fell off my dinosaur laughing at this."

The comic plays on the absurdity of carrying a medieval weapon for self-defense, a concept that has both entertained and puzzled viewers. Whether you find it entertaining or perplexing, this stick figure comic certainly makes an impression.

For those interested in quirky, thought-provoking humor, this comic is a must-see. Join the conversation on Reddit and share your thoughts on this medieval-themed joke!

Just a couple of points of constructive criticism, I'm not trying to insult you or your work. Ignore it if women are actually running around with medieval weapons, and I missed it. I'd change 'a mace' to 'your mace' to allow for some ambiguity for the reader. Currently, you know it's going to be a mace because you don't say 'a mace' when talking about a can of mace or pepper spray. There's no ambiguity, and the only funny part is the absurdity of carrying around a mace. I think that making the dialog part of the joke instead of merely an observation of the joke would work much better. This point is just being nit-picky, but you depicted a morningstar and not a traditional mace. Most folks probably won't care or know the difference. It just sticks out to me. Thanks for sharing.

Mace as a spray is an uncountable noun, nobody is carrying 'a mace' or '1 mace'. You can carry a can of mace, or a bottle of mace, but not a mace. This joke will frustrate ESL teachers of all stripes! Moreover, it's a s*** joke.
