A recent image shared on Reddit has sparked a wave of laughter and heated debates about the etiquette of saving seats for public events. The image shows a turquoise metal chair placed on a concrete surface, likely a parking lot, with parking spaces and car stops visible in the background. Attached to the backrest of the chair is a piece of white paper with a warning written in black text. The top line of the text is partially blacked out, obscuring a certain word. The text on the paper reads:

"Property of the [blacked out] Family

Violators WILL be P*********d"

Clearly, there's a humorous typo in the warning, as "p*********d" should likely be "prosecuted." This error has not gone unnoticed by Reddit users, who have been quick to comment with their own witty remarks.

One user joked, "Don't threaten me with a good time and a paycheck jeeze," while another added, "Sounds like I'll have a seat either way." Some users shared their own experiences with seat-saving tactics, with one recalling a year when the city went through the parade route with a flatbed trailer, picked up everyone's seats, and left fliers informing people that their unauthorized seats could be picked up after the parade.

The image also prompted some users to suggest drastic measures, such as bringing a dumpster to throw the chairs away or moving the chairs out of spite. Comments such as "Bring a dumpster and throw all that stuff in the trash. I can't believe how entitled some people are" and "Show up early in the morning with a dump truck and a yellow vest and hard hat, and collect all the free chairs" reflect the frustration some people feel about this practice.

Beyond the typo, the image has ignited a broader discussion about the fairness and legality of reserving public spaces for events. One user mentioned that in a nearby wealthy town, people had started putting out chairs to "save" spots for a parade over a week in advance. The town responded by stating it would not be considered theft if anyone took a chair left out in public, leading to numerous jokes about free chairs.

The humorous and somewhat controversial image has certainly stirred up strong opinions and plenty of laughs. It serves as a reminder that while securing a prime spot for a parade might be tempting, it's always best to follow the rules and ensure your warning signs are free of embarrassing typos!

On year the city went through the parade route , with a flat bed trailer and picked up everyone's seats and left fliers that said you can pick up your unauthorized seats on the first Monday after the parade at the address listed below. Anything remaining after 2:00 p.m. will be donated to the cities charities. It stopped people putting up seats for several years then they did it again every year.

The sign is funny but f*** these people. Throw those chairs in the garbage. You don't get to save a spot.

People started puting out chairs to "save" a spot for the parade in a wealthyish town near me over a week ago. A couple days later the town put out a notice that it would not be considered theft if anyone took a chair that was left out in public. Tons of jokes about free chairs followed.
