The beloved classic "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" premiered 55 years ago today, way back in 1969. This iconic show introduced audiences to the adventurous and mystery-solving gang: Scooby-Doo, S***gy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne. The catchy theme song, "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We got some work to do now," still resonates with fans decades later.

Many fans fondly remember the original series as the OG, with sentiments echoing that once the show added "actual" supernatural elements, it lost part of its charm. The series originally thrived on the theme that the supernatural wasn't real; the true villains were always humans. This core message struck a chord with viewers, emphasizing that evil comes from within people.

Interestingly, despite its massive cultural impact, the original "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" series only had 25 episodes. The third season, which came out nearly a decade later, was quite different and was initially a different show altogether.

Fans have shared their nostalgia and memories, with one recalling the excitement of new Saturday morning cartoon lineups, eagerly waiting for 7 AM with a big bowl of cereal. Another fan humorously pointed out the oddity of the Scooby Gang traveling around the country at ages 15-16 during the first season. The series is also remembered for its memorable catchphrase, "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids."

The show's enduring appeal is evident from the numerous reboots and variations over the years. However, many fans still cherish the original version the most, feeling that none of the later adaptations quite scratch that nostalgic itch. Episodes like the one at a ski resort with the orange radiation antagonist, "What a Night for a Knight" about painting embezzlement, and the episode featuring a cameo by Sonny & Cher, remain standout memories.

The show's legacy also includes its influence on other media, with references appearing in episodes like "The Saturday Morning Fun Pit" from "Futurama."

Celebrate the 55th anniversary of "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" by revisiting these classic episodes and reliving the adventures of Scooby-Doo and the gang. The timeless appeal of this show continues to bring joy and nostalgia to fans of all ages.

The original is still the OG. Once they added "actual" supernatural s*** they killed the soul of the show. The theme of the show was that the supernatural wasn't real; evil comes from humans. If you're going to ditch that then you need to bring in new characters, not w**** out the old ones.

Groovy theme song. Did it make the charts. Let's see what S***gy says on American Top 40. (in joke for boomers & Gen X)

This show only had 25 episodes, pretty crazy. The 3rd season, made ~10 years later is quite different and was originally a different show

It's weird that the Scooby Gang was traveling around the country at 15-16 years-old in the first season...
