In a humorous twist on classic vampire lore, Twitter user Tom Walker (@tomwalkerisgood) has ignited a lively debate with his viral tweet. Posted on April 16, 2021, the tweet reads, "I know everyone's like 'the only way to kill Dracula is a stake through the heart' but in modern times I think we should at least try hitting him with a very fast car." Garnering 1,742 Retweets, 107 Quote Tweets, and 21.9K Likes, Walker's tweet has resonated with many who enjoy a modern take on age-old myths.

The tweet quickly found its way onto Tumblr, where user "nevertheless-moving" reblogged it, drawing a parallel to a memorable episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The Tumblr post, which was further reblogged by "womens-suffrage-revival-squad," states, "same energy as that Buffy episode where the big bad 'can’t be hurt by any weapon forged' and she’s like 'it’s been 500 years are you sure' and annihilates it with a f***in M136 rocket launcher."

Adding to the fun, the image compilation includes three screenshots from a television show. The first image depicts a demonic character standing menacingly in front of a doorway with the caption, "No weapon forged can stop me." The second image shows a determined young woman looking upwards, captioned, "That was then." The third image humorously concludes with the same woman aiming an M136 rocket launcher at the demon, captioned, "This is now."

The viral post has sparked numerous responses and discussions. One user commented, "There's an episode of Supernatural, where Bobby is dealing with this particular monster from another continent that can only be killed a certain way with a special thing blessed by a Shinto priest etc. etc. In the end though? Wood chipper." Another user shared a quote from Terry Pratchett: "Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon..."

The conversation didn't stop there. Users debated alternative methods to the traditional stake to the heart. One user questioned, "Is it ever explained why it has to be a stake in the heart? I kind of feel like a sufficiently large bullet, with enough force, could create a hole through the vampire's heart large enough that it would be of significant concern for them."

Fans of various shows and games chimed in as well. "The TTRPG World of Darkness, best known for Vampire: The Masquerade, plays with this a lot. You have zero chance of winning a fistfight with a vampire, but even an elder vampire has to watch out for ye olde shotgun to the face," one user said. Others reminisced about short-lived series like "Ultraviolet," where characters used carbon bullets and special guns to detect and kill vampires, and iconic scenes from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Monster Squad."

This blend of humor and nostalgia has captivated audiences, offering a delightful reimagining of vampire-slaying tactics that bridges the gap between traditional mythology and modern-day creativity.

There was this short lived series called Ultraviolet. I think they use carbon bullets and guns with a screen attached so they could detect and kill vampires. Thought that was cool.

I was going to ask how she acquired a rocket launcher, but then I remembered that the show takes place in America so she probably got it at Walmart

Dracula was stabbed to death by a cowboy. Ergo, cowboys should repel vampires like crosses and garlic as they're demonstrably weak to them.

#1 dracula was killed by an American with a giant f*** off Bowie knife

I especially love how Buffy suggested it, Giles said it might not work, and Buffy stated that it would be worth a shot, and will likely give them time to figure out a more permanent solution, which Giles stated were very valid points

I'm reminded of Monster Squad, where they tried to kill the werewolf by blowing him up. It didn't work. (although a kick to the nards was still effective.)
