The horrifying events of September 11, 2001, remain etched in the collective memory of millions. On that fateful day, four commercial airplanes were hijacked and used as instruments of terror, leading to unimaginable loss and forever changing the world. A detailed map has emerged, offering a stark visual representation of the flight paths taken by these aircraft, shedding light on the magnitude of the tragedy.

The map spans the northeastern United States, capturing states like M****chusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Major cities such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. are prominently marked, with the Atlantic Ocean bordering the eastern coast.

The flight paths of the four hijacked planes are meticulously traced:

1. **American Airlines Flight 11**: This flight is denoted by a red line, originating from Boston Logan International Airport. The path travels southward towards New York City, where it would ultimately crash into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

2. **United Airlines Flight 175**: Also starting from Boston Logan International Airport, this flight's red line runs closely parallel to Flight 11, ending its journey at the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

3. **American Airlines Flight 77**: Marked with a green line, this flight begins at Dulles International Airport near Washington D.C. It travels southwest before looping back northeast, tragically crashing into the Pentagon.

4. **United Airlines Flight 93**: Depicted with a blue line, this flight starts from Newark International Airport and travels westward into Pennsylvania, where it crashes in a rural area after passengers attempted to regain control from the hijackers.

The map includes numbered points along each flight path, indicating significant events or turning points during the hijackings. These visual cues help to contextualize the chaotic sequence of events that unfolded.

I remember. It still breaks my heart.

Wow, i never realized how many hijackers there were involved and to maintain silence about the terrorist acts.

That Betty Ong voice recording is really painful to listen to. Asking her name multiple times and what seat she's sitting in. Unable to realize for many minutes that she is a flight attendant and it's a hijacking. Granted that Betty called the Reservations department who are ill-equipped to understand the situation… can't flight attendants call anybody other than Reservations?

23 years later, I still remember that day. I was in 6th grade when a staff came into the classroom and whisper something in my teacher ear. Without missing the beat, she turned on the mounted tv we had in the room. I was really confused as first, I thought we was watching a movie or something of a burning building. And then that when the 2nd plane hit the tower(watching it live). I'll never forget the face the teacher made that day. I didn't fully understand what happened till later that day.

When the second plane hit was such a 'record scratch' I don't think it's easy to appreciate now. It went from "Hey, come watch TV, a plane has gone into the WTC" which was a huge tragedy in itself and no one publicly knew at the time WTF was going on whether it was some kind of accident - then the second one. Until then it was just a dull tuesday
