In an unexpected twist, social media user Mika Mika, known by the handle @smittensuccubus, recently shared a post that has taken the internet by storm. The post reveals an amusing yet baffling situation where Mika was fired from her seasonal job, only to be asked to come back and cover a shift the very next day.

The post, written in black text on a white background, features a circular profile picture of Mika sporting pink hair, light purple eye shadow, and dark lipstick. Mika's message reads:

"my job **fired me** yesterday (saw it coming, just a seasonal position, already have a new job) and they asked me **if I could still show up** for my shift today bc no one else could take it. **i said yes.** it is now 10 mins past when I was supposed to clock in and i am laying in bed. 💕"

The bold text emphasizing "fired me," "if I could still show up," and "i said yes" underscores the absurdity of the situation, while the heart emoji at the end adds a touch of nonchalance and humor.

The post has garnered widespread attention and comments, with users sharing their own similar experiences. One user humorously remarked, "We are so shorthanded after firing everyone! How could you do this to us?" Another shared a story about a department head scheduling them for high-priority jobs after they had quit, only to cancel last minute.

One particularly detailed comment suggested a potential negotiating tactic: "when they inevitably call to ask where you are, you say 'you asked if I could show up for my shift, I said I could... but you fired me yesterday so I have no shift today.'"

Other users shared experiences of being treated poorly at previous jobs, like a commenter who was blacklisted after quitting and moving to another state, and another who quit a grocery market job halfway through a shift and gave away free products to customers.

The post has sparked a larger discussion about the often precarious nature of temporary and seasonal employment, with one user noting, "If they'd turned up and got injured, the employer would just say they were no longer an employee and so not covered by insurance."

Mika Mika’s viral post serves as a relatable and humorous commentary on the sometimes ridiculous demands of the modern workplace, resonating with many who have faced similar predicaments.

when they inevitably call to ask where you are, you say "you asked if I could show up for my shift, I said I could... but you fired me yesterday so I have no shift today. So I can't show up for a shift I don't have. As such I didn't technically lie. If you want to rehire me and give me shifts, we can negotiate pay but I'm going to want a legally binding contract on that because this "fire me and then ask me to show up" thing seems a bit sketchy and unreliable.

would have asked if this was a contract position as if so you have terms, ask for 5x what they were paying you per hour

I quit one of my old jobs, department head told me that they really needed me & scheduled me for a heap of high priority jobs that were coming up, which I agreed to. He'd call me in the morning 10 minutes before I should be at work & cancel. Ops manager eventually called me to tell me that they had blacklisted me & that the manager was trying to f*** with me & that he felt bad about it. I just laughed & replied "I moved to another state a couple of days after I quit"

Probably gonna get lynched for this for saying it on imgur, but... this seems pointlessly antagonistic. Seasonal position, so there was no malice in letting them go - the job was just over. But they asked if they would like to extend slightly because a permanent member was out for a day and they could use the coverage. Presumably for, y'know, pay, as basically all seasonal jobs are hourly or daily. 1/Whatever

I saw a discussion today where someone applied for a new job and was told by the new employer that they got the position, so they gave their 2 weeks notice at their current job. But then when the two weeks were up the new employer told them the job was no longer on the table and they would not being hiring them after all, so the person ended up with no job and a family/mortgage/etc to pay for.
