A viral video on Imgur titled "Cats 2" showcases a step-by-step guide on how to coax a kitten to sleep. The video demonstrates holding the kitten like a child, tucking her tail, and gently patting her until she falls asleep. While the method appears to work, it has sparked a heated debate among viewers.

In the video, the process involves holding the kitten tightly even if she shakes her head, tucking her tail up, and holding her legs. The narrator advises not to play with the kitten even if she opens her mouth to engage. Instead, gentle pats are recommended to help the kitten drift off to sleep.

Viewer reactions have been mixed. One user (#10) expressed amazement, calling it a "miracle." Others, however, raised concerns. A top comment (#1) warns that many cats hate being held in such a manner and advises against forcing them. Another user (#18) highlighted the importance of respecting an animal's boundaries to prevent trauma and maintain trust.

There were also humorous takes on the situation. One comment (#2) humorously suggested that a sofa with visible cat hairs would be the perfect nap spot. Another user (#6) made a light-hearted remark about their wife wanting a cow.

However, some comments were quite critical. Commenters (#50 and #13) described the video as cruel, stating that the cat appeared to be in fear and urging viewers not to fall for such setups. One user (#47) even mentioned that the initial "snatch" looked painful for the cat.

Additionally, some users shared their own experiences and tips. One user (#8) noted that the kitten might be a Turkish Van, a breed known for enjoying water, and suggested getting a pool for her. Another commenter (#1) shared a similar technique used for sleepy human children, involving softly running a finger down the front of their nose to make them close their eyes.

The video has undeniably caught the internet's attention, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of treating animals with care and respect. Whether one agrees with the method or not, it has certainly sparked a valuable conversation about animal welfare and proper handling techniques.

#1 Many cats hate being held like that. If yours do, don't force them.

#18 at about ten seconds in: while this dump is otherwise fantastic, on a serious note, PLEASE do not force your cat (or any animal for that matter) to do something when they are clearly upset by it! It's a great way to ruin their trust, and potentially even traumatize them. It'd be no different than imagining a gorilla trying to manhandle you and thinking it's "funny" that you're having anxiety. Please respect their personal boundaries, and train them gently to accept being held and handled.
