A recent video titled "Danger scritches" has taken the internet by storm, featuring an endearing skunk kit enjoying some well-deserved scritches. Viewers are mesmerized by the young skunk's adorable reactions, and the video has sparked a wave of nostalgic and informative comments.

One user noted, "The air bites and licks are seemingly the universal sign of appreciation for back scratches," capturing the essence of the skunk kit's playful behavior. Another enthusiastically dubbed the skunk a "fart squirrel" and enthusiastically commented, "Fart squirrel loves scritches," highlighting the universal love for these gentle interactions.

A keen observer pointed out, "It looks like a skunk kit. Maybe it hasn't started to spray foul smelly secrets yet," shedding light on the skunk's age and the absence of its notorious defense mechanism. This prompted a discussion on the temperament and characteristics of skunks, with one user stating, "Skunks are surprisingly laid back for how afraid of them everyone is." They cautioned against interacting with unfamiliar skunks due to the risk of getting sprayed or encountering rabies.

The video also evoked personal memories, with one viewer sharing a touching story: "My family has a story where my dad, at about 3 years old, was playing in the front yard with a skunk. He was being gentle and petting it and saying 'kitty!' and this skunk didn't seem to mind. My grandma sees this and freezes. She wants to yell 'HOWIE GET AWAY FROM THAT WILD ANIMAL' but obviously that's going to scare the both of them. So she just tries to coax my dad to her and away from the skunk, very quietly."

The comments section is filled with admiration and curiosity for the skunk kit, with one remarking, "Baby fart squirrel!" and another expressing a desire to own a skunk: "I want a skunk so much. They're cool and chill."

Interestingly, some users provided insights into pet skunks, explaining that "you can remove the scent glands IIRC. I've seen vet shows where they treat pet skunks that have had the stink-producing part removed safely and they're supposedly really good pets." This sparked a nostalgic comment about the 80s: "I remember back in the 80's skunks were being kept as pets and had their smelly sacs removed. In fact, I have the distinct impression that the girl in Short Circuit had one."

The video has not only entertained viewers but also educated them on the unique qualities of skunks and their potential as pets. One user humorously warned, "Keep up the scritches or you get the foul squirt," while another shared their experiences with ferrets, "Love scratching my ferrets. Their tails always puff out in excitement when I get the right spot. I always say they're 'skunking out' when that happens. Fun fact, skunks are in the mustelid family and are related to ferrets."

Overall, the "Danger scritches" video has garnered a sentimental response, with users appreciating the skunk kit's cuteness and the joy of giving scritches. It has become a delightful example of how even the most unexpected animals can bring happiness and curiosity to people's lives.

Skunks are surprisingly laid back for how afraid of them everyone is. That being said, it’s still a bad idea to interact with an unfamiliar skunk. For one, as laid back as they are, if you don’t recognize warnings when they give them, they will spray you. For another they can and do occasionally carry rabies.
