In a compelling video that has caught the attention of many, Zarah Sultana, MP for Coventry South, sheds light on the pervasive issue of corporate lobbying. Originally posted to YouTube in May 2020, Sultana's speech exposes the alarming ways in which corporations attempt to influence political decisions through gifts and other incentives.

Zarah Sultana, known for her independent stance after being expelled from the Labour Party for her left-wing views, shares her experiences of becoming a consultant and the unexpected perks that came with it. She recounts how companies like Heathrow and Google provided her with gifts and incentives to gain her support.

The video has sparked a lively discussion online, with many commenters expressing their frustration and anger over the blatant bribery disguised as lobbying. One user pointed out that such practices should be made illegal, with companies punished for trying to sway political decisions through gifts like free lunches, football tickets, and flights.

Another commenter highlighted the misconception that successful businesspeople make good politicians, arguing that businesses are autocracies driven by the interests of the wealthy, while government should serve everyone equally. This sentiment was echoed by others who called for greater transparency and criminalization of corruption and bribes.

Sultana's speech has drawn comparisons to prominent figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), with users praising her courage and calling for more politicians like her. The video also brought attention to the issue of medical lobbying, where companies spend millions on cruises, fancy dinners, and alcohol to influence doctors.

Despite the powerful message, some users expressed disappointment that such speeches are often delivered to largely empty houses, highlighting the need for greater awareness and action. The overall consensus is clear: corporate lobbying undermines democracy, and more stringent measures are needed to ensure political integrity.

By addressing these issues head-on, Zarah Sultana has ignited a crucial conversation about the role of corporations in politics and the importance of maintaining a government that serves the people, not just the wealthy elite.

This sort of blatant "lobbying" aka Bribes (let's just call it what it is shall we) needs to be made illegal, and the companies in question punished. No more free lunches, football tickets, flights or what not from companies, if a company wants to have a "casual talk" with an MP it's done in an environment where everything is recorded and can be made available for public scrutiny

OK, so I had to look this up. Zarah Sultana, MP for Coventry South. Sits as an independent, formerly of the Labour Party but thrown out for being too left wing (I simplify greatly but....). She posted it to the tube of you in May 2020. Not sure when she made the speech though. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfshIDvJrB0 )

People have been gaslit into thinking successful business person = good for government.. It's the exact opposite, businesses are autocracies driven to benefit the rich at the top. Government is a service to care for everyone in the society equally.

Disappointing that these kind of speeches are said to a largely empty house.

some. if ppl keep voting for probusiness politicians they will keep getting probusiness policies...dont think this ma'am or others like her could be bought in the same way. corruption and bribes defo should be criminal, but i donmt think it would change very much in policy as long as ppl keep voting rightwing
