A new meme featuring characters from the beloved animated TV show "The Simpsons" has gone viral, using humor to critique the FBI's handling of a school shooter case. This three-panel meme has struck a chord with social media users, sparking a significant discussion about gun control and law enforcement.

In the top panel, several children from Bart Simpson's class are eagerly gathered in a classroom, with the text "Say the line Bart!" setting the stage for a familiar scene. This immediately draws in viewers, as they recognize the setup from countless episodes of the show.

The middle panel shifts focus to Bart Simpson himself, who is shown sitting at his desk, disheartened and resigned. Donning a large, black baseball cap emblazoned with "FBI" in white letters, Bart delivers the line, "The shooter was on our radar," capturing a moment of resigned frustration.

The bottom panel brings a twist, showing the same group of children now standing up, cheering, and throwing their hands in the air in celebration. Their ecstatic expressions provide a stark contrast to Bart's somber statement, highlighting the perceived inadequacies in how such threats are addressed.

This meme has resonated with many, leading to a flurry of comments online. One comment references a CBS News article, noting that the FBI Atlanta had interviewed a suspect about online threats to commit a school shooting. Another user points out the challenges law enforcement faces, stating, "Oh not at all, see, they TALKED to the kid and his dad and the kid denied ever making any threats at all."

The meme and ensuing discussions underscore the broader debate about gun control and the limitations of current laws. Commenters have expressed frustration over the lack of effective measures, with one noting, "What exactly is the goal of the tips if the STATE reps and sheriffs won't remove guns?" Another highlighted the systemic issues, saying, "The Supreme Court is the biggest ally to mass shooters. The NRA is a close second."

The meme's use of "The Simpsons" characters to deliver a pointed message has proven effective in sparking conversation. The juxtaposition of Bart's resigned statement with the children's jubilant reaction serves as a powerful commentary on the public's perception of the FBI's capabilities and the need for more robust gun control measures.

As the meme continues to circulate, it is clear that it has struck a nerve, prompting many to call for change. The conversation around this meme highlights the need for a more proactive approach to preventing such tragedies, emphasizing the importance of sensible gun control laws and improved mental health support.

"FBI Atlanta said on social media Wednesday night that county authorities had interviewed the suspect last year about online threats to commit a school shooting." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/school-shooting-georgia-apalachee-high-school/

Oh not at all, see, they TALKED to the kid and his dad and the kid denied ever making any threats at all. Kid was on their radar for one conversation. What are the odds he's white?

In May 2023, after the FBI got several anonymous tips about online threats to commit a school shooting. The FBI referred the information to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for action. They located a possible subject and interviewed him and his father. The father stated he had hunting guns in the house, but the subject did not have unsupervised access to them. The subject denied making the threats online. Jackson County alerted local schools for continued monitoring of the subject.

What exactly is the goal of the tips if the STATE reps and sheriffs wont remove guns and would removing guns even be possible in this case?

The Supreme Court is the biggest ally to mass shooters. The NRA is a close second. They make sure the FBI can do nothing but watch.

"...was taken into custody alive." all I needed to know to establish that the shooter is white.

Yes, he was on their rader, but what laws gave them the authority to actually do anything about it? Georgia doesn’t even have red flag laws.

ImHereToGetDownvotes

We can't lock people up before they do anything, which is EXACTLY why we need gun control reform. With proper red flag laws, they'd have never had access to a gun and even if so, the second they were flagged by the FBI radar would have ensured the guns were removed.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to conclude from this information. It's not like we live in the world of Minority Report, and they can arrest a person for precrime. I think what's supposed of a school shooting is not the FBI, but sensible gun control laws that prevent crazy f***s from having guns in the first place (and also a society with general welfare and healthcare measures available to everyone so as to minimize the distress that can lead to this kind of violence).

Oh for f***s sake... not again.
