A compelling Twitter debate has sparked a heated discussion about the true teachings of Christ, focusing on the phrase "Love one another." The conversation was initiated by @HumanistQuak, who posted a tweet asking, "Maybe it was one of these places?," followed by a list of Bible verses that clearly articulate the command to "Love one another."

The verses include:

- “Love one another” (John 13:34)

- “Love one another” (John 13:35)

- “Love one another” (John 15:12)

- “Love one another” (John 15:17)

- “Love one another” (Rom 12:10)

- “Love one another” (1 Thess 3:12)

- “Love one another” (1 Peter 1:22)

- “Love one another” (1 John 3:11)

- “Love one another” (1 John 3:23)

- “Love one another” (1 John 4:7)

- “Love one another” (1 John 4:11)

- “Love one another” (1 John 4:12)

- “Love one another” (2 John 5)

In response, @pastorb_ifb replied to @JohnFugelsang with a provocative question: "Show me where Jesus says, 'Love LGBTQ people.' I’ll wait."

This exchange has drawn numerous reactions from users, highlighting the perceived hypocrisy in the interpretation of Christ’s teachings by some conservative Christians. One user commented, "Christ’s teaching: ‘Love one another.’ Conservative Christians: ‘Not like that.’"

Others pointed out the selective application of Biblical principles. One user remarked, "Read The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). EVERY ONE IS YOUR NEIGHBOR, TREAT EVERYONE WITH MERCY." Another user sarcastically noted, "show me where Jesus says 'buy a lot of guns and constantly complain about your second amendment rights.' I'll wait."

The conversation underscores a broader societal debate on the interpretation of religious texts and their application to modern issues, particularly concerning the LGBTQ community. It also raises questions about the authenticity of religious adherence and the selective use of scripture to justify personal biases and societal norms.

This Twitter exchange serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities and contradictions that can arise when interpreting religious teachings. It calls for a deeper reflection on the true essence of Christ's message and its application in today's diverse and inclusive world.

Christ’s teaching: “Love one another” Conservative Christians: “Not like that”

nah "whatever you do for the least of these you did for me" obviously can only be exclusively interpreted to mean conservative christians. no other group has faced as much adversity or persecution, ever, so they are definitely the least of these. but don't twist it they're also definitely the best. they're just the victims in power. does hyperbole and dichotomy make my tone clear or does that just make it seem more realistic, hmm

BigDaddysMeatWagon

I feel like they would argue that LGBT people aren't part of "them" and thus isn't applicable.

Love your neighbour as you love yourself? Or maybe that's just advocating for mutual m***********?

show me where Jesus says "buy a lot of guns and constantly complain about your second amendment rights". I'll wait. Not everything has to be about a piece of paper. How about just be a good person and mind your own business?

Read The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). For f*** sake it’s the most important teaching in the entire Bible. EVERY ONE IS YOUR NEIGHBOR, TREAT EVERYONE WITH MERCY. Also, for context, Samarians were regarded as a horrible people (because of racism and immigration).
