A thought-provoking cartoon image has recently ignited discussions across social media platforms. The image, posted on Imgur under the title "Rules for thee and not for me," depicts a Bible class scene that raises significant questions about religious teachings and moral consistency.

In the cartoon, several children are seated on benches, attentively facing their teacher who is standing with an open Bible. The teacher, dressed in a blue suit and tie, is presumably leading a lesson in a church setting, as indicated by the stained glass window and a sign on the wall that reads "Bible Class." One of the children, a blond-haired kid wearing a yellow shirt and black vest, raises a hand to ask a poignant question: "SO THE GOD WHO TEACHES US TO LOVE OUR ENEMIES WILL TORTURE HIS ENEMIES IN HELL... FOREVER?"

This question has sparked a flurry of reactions from online commentators. One user pointed out, "That presumes God owns and manages both heaven and hell. Making him a fraudulent monopoly." Another user added, "Assuming Jesus was real he never even said anything about hell. He was a Jew trying to reform the flaws in Judaism and Jews don’t have a hell."

The debate extended to interpretations of religious doctrine and the concept of eternal punishment. A user quoted Hazbin Hotel, saying, "If hell is forever, then heaven must be a lie, if angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky." They elaborated, "The whole idea of hell is monstrous, in my opinion. A god that allegedly believes in redemption, shouldn't stop offering that chance in the afterlife."

Others expressed their discomfort with the notion of eternal separation from God. "This being a major problem for me with Christianity, I looked into it. Evidently the torture thing is a minority position. But eternal separation from God seems to be a majority position and I'm not ok with it," shared one commentator.

The image and its underlying message have also been critiqued for perpetuating a "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. One comment read, "The Bible says that if you follow God you will not perish but have everlasting life. And you got to heaven! So if your PRIZE for following God is to live forever and not perish then that means those who do NOT live forever and WILL perish. There is no hell. Bad people just cease to exist per your own doctrine."

Religious teachings and their interpretations have always been a topic of heated discussions. This cartoon image serves as a catalyst for deeper reflection and conversation about the nature of divine justice and love. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the sentiments expressed, the image undeniably prompts a critical examination of widely held beliefs.

As the conversation continues to evolve, it remains essential to approach such discussions with an open mind and a willingness to understand differing perspectives. The dialogue surrounding this image is a testament to the enduring relevance and complexity of religious teachings in contemporary society.

To quote Hazbin Hotel on this: "If hell is forever, then heaven must be a lie, if angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky." The whole idea of hell is monstrous, in my opinion. A god that allegedly believes in redemption, shouldn't stop offering that chance in the afterlife.

"Do as I say, not as I do." Primes the kids for other conservative powers-that-be who have the same attitude.

The Bible says that if you follow god you will not perish but have everlasting life. And you got to heaven! So if your PRIZE for following god are to live forever and not perish than that means loses do NOT live forever and WILL perish. There is no hell. Bad people jsut cease to exist per your own doctrine.

Not "his enemies", horrible people. No one poses a threat to God, he's punishing people for posing a threat to others.

I am absolutely capable of hurting someone who's wronged me or watching in a satisfied manner someone like that suffering for a prolonged period of time. But not forever. EVENTUALLY, even for the vilest, most evil person who had hurt me personally, I would show mercy and end the suffering. But not God, apparently. Revelation 9:6. "Merciful" my f***ing a**. The monster depicted in the bible is one of the most evil things man has ever dreamt up.
