A social media post from the user "teaandravens" has gone viral, calling out the media for their coverage of political events, particularly focusing on the recent Republican National Convention (RNC) speech by Donald Trump. The post, which features a dark background with white text, has garnered significant attention, amassing 8.5K likes, 190 comments, and 1.2K shares.

In the post, teaandravens addresses the media directly:

"Dear Media,

I expect nothing less than 3 solid weeks of breathless reporting about whatever the f%ck we all just witnessed.

I want questions about his fitness to serve.

I want questions about his mental acuity.

I want calls to have him drop out of the race.

I want interviews with a slew of pundits saying he can’t win.

I want podcasters saying we can’t unsee what we all witnessed.

That is what this moment now requires to show you truly do 'balanced' reporting."

The post has sparked a heated discussion among users, with comments ranging from criticism of media ownership to debates about political bias. One user remarked, "White conservative males own all the media companies," while another commented, "Not gonna happen. And we all know exactly why."

The context behind this viral post involves Trump's unconventional approach during his RNC speech. Initially, Trump had prepared remarks that were designed to be unifying and statesmanlike. However, he deviated from the script, extending the speech by an additional hour with his usual unscripted and controversial remarks. This led to criticism and concern from various quarters about his fitness to serve and mental acuity.

Commenters on the post have expressed their frustration with what they perceive as biased media coverage. One user pointed out, "The media outlets that covered the RNC had to agree that their personalities wouldn't push back or fact check anything that was presented in order to be granted access, change my mind."

Another user highlighted the longstanding criticism of Trump's behavior, stating, "Here's my beef with this argument: most everyone knows Trump is a fascist with a deeply addled mind. It's not news anymore because the news had been reporting on that a LOT years ago. We know it. Reporters know it. Repubs know it."

The post by teaandravens underscores a broader debate about media accountability and the role of journalism in political discourse. As the 2020 election approaches, the scrutiny of both candidates and media practices is intensifying, with voters seeking reliable information amidst a sea of partisan reporting.

The engagement metrics on this post indicate that it has resonated with a large audience, reflecting widespread concern about media bias and the representation of political events. As discussions continue, the call for balanced reporting and thorough scrutiny of all candidates remains a critical issue for the public and the media alike.

tl;dr; Trump had prepared remarks sent out to media for his acceptance speech at the RNC, probably 25 minutes worth, that were written to sound unifying, statesmanlike, etc. Instead, he went off-script for an extra hour and talked. and talked. and talked. and it was the usual deranged and unhinged Trump material. It *was* an historic speech, in that it was the longest speech at a convention since candidates started showing up.

Here's my beef with this argument: most everyone knows Trump is a fascist with a deeply addled mind. It's not news any more because the news had been reporting on that a LOT years ago. We know it. Reporters know it. Repubs know it. Biden's age is news now because he's likely the only alternative we have to Trump, which is freaking the f*** out of most voters and donors every time he has a gaff or a "gaff".
