An impassioned video titled "Yachts vs Houses with PASSION" has been making waves online, sparking fervent discussions about the federal minimum wage and the current housing crisis. The video showcases a man passionately arguing that the federal minimum wage needs to be $52 per hour to align with the original purchasing power when the minimum wage was first established.

The speaker in the video breaks down the math, explaining that when the federal minimum wage was introduced, the average cost of a home ranged from $4,000 to $6,000. Adjusted for inflation, that home would now be worth around $90,000. To afford such a home today, one would need an $18,000 annual income on a good interest rate for 30 years. However, the current federal minimum wage falls short of this requirement, highlighting a significant disparity.

The video has resonated with many viewers, who took to the comments section to share their own frustrations and experiences. One user expressed admiration for the speaker, stating, "That is one angry dude. And rightfully so. We should all be so angry." Another commenter shared their personal struggle, saying, "I had to switch careers from healthcare technician to grocery retail management because it was my only shot at making more than 40k a year. I make what used to be DREAM money in my eyes. 65k a year. And I'm living tighter than I did at 40k because of inflation."

The issue of housing affordability was also a common theme among the comments. A user from Sydney noted, "We live in weird times, food and entertainment is cheaper but housing? Housing is absolutely borked. I don't get where people are getting millions for s***ty properties but that's the game now." Another shared their solution to the housing crisis, advising, "Folks, you don't need a 20% down payment. Nobody I know who owns a house had a 20% down payment. If your credit is very good, you can go to the bank and ask for a conventional 97/3 loan."

The video has also sparked a larger discussion about the socioeconomic divide. Multiple users emphasized that the issue is not about left vs right but rather about the disparity between the wealthy and the working class. One user eloquently stated, "It's not about left vs right. It's really about top vs down. We need that message LOUDER."

This video and the ensuing discussion highlight the growing frustration among individuals struggling to keep up with the cost of living and the increasing difficulty of achieving financial stability. It underscores the urgent need for a reevaluation of the federal minimum wage and housing policies to better reflect the realities of today's economy.

We live in weird times, food and entertainment is cheaper but housing? housing is absolutely borked. I live in Sydney and I don't get where people are getting millions for s***ty properties but that's the game now. The life that people enjoyed 30-70 years ago is goneski but hey, we have electronics right, totally shouldn't be disgruntled about not affording a house and kids and the usual markers of adulthood.

I had to switch careers from healthcare technician to grocery retail management because it was my only shot at making more than 40k a year. I make what used to be DREAM money in my eyes. 65k a year. And I'm living tighter than I did at 40k because of inflation. This s*** p***es me off so much. I work triple the amount of yours in a week, make more, but somehow MAKE LESS

I would agree that it isn't left vs right, except that the f***ing morons on the right have decided to ignore reality and are gearing up to start murdering the left because the left is okay with letting brown and non-christian and gay people be alive. f*** the rich but also the right can go f*** itself too

100% agree with his rant, but why do people always record these things in their car?

Be wary of affordable housing bills that subsidize hedge funds and landlords. If rent/leasing is involved then vote NO. We give taxpayer dollars to property developers to make affordable housing which is owned privately and free to charge rent, perpetuating rent slavery. Do not let capitalists get a single f***ing cent of tax money for that s***. The only way taxpayers should be funding housing development is with housing programs that help residents become homeowners by giving them equity.

If I wasn't 53, if I was like 25 or something, there'd be trouble a-brewin'. But I'm so tired all the time.
