Breaking news out of the Mushroom Kingdom tonight. Earlier this evening, a plumber named Mario, seemingly under the influence of unidentified mushrooms, had gone on a destructive rampage. Witnesses reported him shattering numerous blocks with his bare fists and violently stomping on innocent bystanders. Several Goombas had been critically injured in the attack. Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The beloved Goomba leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Luigi, Mario’s brother and business partner, shared his thoughts, stating, "I knew he was under a lot of stress and all with the recent contract to update all the plumbing in Pipeland, but I never expected anything like this from him."

Opinions are divided among the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom. Some believe this is Koopa propaganda, with one resident claiming, "Mario did nothing wrong." Another shared their sorrow for the Goomba, remarking, "I feel bad for that Goomba. I hear he was a fun guy."

Conversations have also surfaced about the possible cause of Mario's behavior. A commenter pointed out, "Amanita Muscaria contains two toxins, ibotenic acid and muscimol, which are responsible for its psychoactive and hallucinogenic effects."

The incident has reminded many of the dark and gritty take on Nintendo featured in "There Will Be Brawl" from the late 2000s Escapist, where Mercer played Ganon 14 years before "Tears of the Kingdom."

Debate continues on the terminology for Goomba offspring, with suggestions like "goomblings" and "goomblets" being floated around. One commenter humorously lamented, "Disappointed it wasn’t 'goomblets.'"

The tragic event has left a lasting impression on the Mushroom Kingdom. As the community grapples with the aftermath, one can't help but wonder about the implications of this rampage and the future of the beloved plumber, Mario.

Reminds me of There Will Be Brawl. Gritty dark take on Nintendo from the late 2000s Escapist. Featured Mercer as Ganon 14 years before TotK.

Leave to the fascist Bowser state to spin the news around and make Mario look bad.

fun fact, in the original super mario bros game for the nes, Bowser actually turned the mushroom people into bricks, among other things... So every time you broke a brick block...
