Brian May, the iconic guitarist of Queen, has always been a figure of fascination, not just for his musical genius but for his remarkable humility. In a recent video, May was asked how he manages to stay so down-to-earth despite his legendary status. His response was nothing short of touching and insightful.

May candidly shared, "Oh, I love you. I mean, this is your perception, and I thank you for it. To me, it's just my own kind of truth, I suppose. I like the act. I like being a rock star or whatever, you know, and I'll do it to the max. But inside, there's a person who's sort of looking at it and thinking, you know, where am I? What am I doing? What does this mean?"

This sentiment reflects his deep inner reflection and the struggle to maintain normalcy amidst the chaos of fame. As he elaborated, "As time has gone on, I felt it more appropriate to reveal what I actually am, and it seems to help in the life situation. And to me, I love that kind of thing. I like just being normal. And I think to be truthful, I've fought in my life to stay as normal as I can. It's a pretty abnormal life that I've had, but you have to be a human being and you're not excused from being a human being just because you're famous or successful. And I think you've just got to wake up every morning and be able to look into the mirror and say, yeah, I'm telling the truth as far as I can."

The video sparked an outpouring of admiration in the comments. One user humorously noted May's iconic hairstyle, "And also pick a haircut in 1970 and never change it for anyone!" Another highlighted the profoundness of May's words, quoting, "You're not excused from being a human being just because you're famous or successful," adding that many could learn from this wisdom.

May's multifaceted career extends beyond music. He was part of the New Horizons team that visited Pluto and served as the chancellor of a university, where he personally handed out degrees. His academic achievements are equally impressive; he completed his PhD in Astrophysics in 2007, with a dissertation on Zodiacal light, a phenomenon involving light reflected off dust in our solar system.

A user expressed awe at his gentle voice, "What a pleasant voice. I think it's the first time I've heard his voice not singing, and he just sounds so lovely and gentle." Another found humor in his dual identity, "Unreal that he didn’t mention 'gravity' as letting him down to earth. Astrophysicist indeed!"

May's contributions are vast, from stereo photography to being an author and collector. Fans shared their experiences of seeing Queen live, with one particularly touching comment: "I saw Queen+ a few years back with my daughter. I thought Queen without Freddy would be lame. I was sooooo wrong. It was the best live show I've ever seen. May owns the stage. Just incredible talent from guys loving what they do. Great show!"

Despite occasional controversies and criticisms, including comments on his portrayal in biographical films and his views on diversity, May remains a cherished figure. As one user aptly put it, "Love the art. Not the artist."

Brian May's ability to balance his extraordinary life with genuine humility continues to inspire. His words serve as a reminder that fame does not exempt one from the fundamental human experience. Indeed, he is not just a rock star but a gentleman and a scholar, embodying the essence of staying down-to-earth.

"You're not excused from being a human being just because you're famous or successful".... never a truer word spoken , there's are plenty out there that could learn from that one line.

Sir Dr Brian Harold May, CBE. He suspended his PhD studies from 1974 to 2006, completing them in 2007.

He wrote his dissertation on Zodiacal light, which is light that is reflected off the dust in our solar system that mainly exists between Earth and Jupiter. The dust may come from Mars or the asteroids or both, but we'd need more data to be sure.

I still think it's funny an astrophysicist is best known for his work with Mercury but it's not the planet
