A fascinating video on Imgur showcases an arcade cabinet that plays Gameboy games, sparking a wave of nostalgia and admiration among viewers. The video, set to a captivating rap track, features a user crafting an arcade cabinet with impressive woodworking skills. The song in the background, reminiscent of 90s hip-hop, pays homage to the late Guru, a legendary rapper who passed away in 2010.

The video begins with a confident rap, "Yo, Duke, you're dead wrong, you'll never have the skills like mine," setting an assertive tone. As the creator meticulously works on the arcade cabinet, using sharp tools close to the screen, one can't help but appreciate the precision and dedication involved. This innovative project turns the traditionally portable Gameboy into a stationary arcade experience.

One user humorously remarked, "Somebody get my man a Dremel tool, please!" highlighting the need for precision tools in such intricate work. Another user, clearly impressed, exclaimed, "You're my boy woodboy!!" showcasing the camaraderie and support within the community.

The soundtrack, a dope 90's track, received a nostalgic nod from a user who commented, "Dope song. That's 90's s*** right there... R.I.P. Guru 1961-2010 ✌🏼." Despite the unconventional choice of music for a woodworking video, the beat resonated with many fans of the era.

However, not all feedback was purely positive. Concerns about the practicality of the design were raised. "The Gameboy was so popular largely because it was portable. This is certainly a choice to take away that key advantage," noted one user, pointing out a potential drawback of the cabinet. Another user voiced concerns about the placement of the start and select buttons, crucial in some games, questioning their accessibility.

Amidst the mixed reactions, the craftsmanship was undisputed. "Nice work!" commented a user, while another expressed interest in replicating the project, "I really want to do this with a RetroPie setup." These comments reflect the inspiration drawn from the creator's dedication and skill.

Some viewers reminisced about similar setups from the past, "There was one of those in the toy shop in the early 90s. Not made of wood like that, but a big full sized arcade cabinet that played Gameboy games," adding a layer of nostalgia to the innovative project.

This video not only showcases an impressive DIY arcade cabinet but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Guru. It sparks a blend of nostalgia, admiration, and practical considerations, making it a must-watch for both retro gaming enthusiasts and woodworking aficionados.

That's not going fit in your pocket!

Not sure what I think about the positioning of the start and select buttons: some games use them heavily. I might want them more easily accessible. But otherwise a wonderful end product. I need to look into how the wiring to the screen works.
