The world of role-playing games (RPGs) is vast and diverse, filled with epic quests, intricate storylines, and, of course, the ever-present challenge of inventory management. A recent comic strip making rounds on Imgur hilariously captures this quintessential RPG experience, particularly focusing on the h***ding behavior many gamers exhibit.

In this comic strip, two adventurers navigate the complex world of potions and weapons. The first panel sets the scene with a male and female adventurer standing in a grassy, hilly terrain. The female adventurer, labeled as "MAGE 99," is visibly concerned about her health, indicated by a health bar above her head showing "0/5 HP." She exclaims, "Oof, I'm running low on health..." In response, the male adventurer, labeled "P****LY ROGUE 99," grins and reassures her with, "Yeah, hold on!" while holding a bag full of potions.

Zooming into the second panel, the male adventurer hands over a small glass vial containing a blue potion, saying, "Here we go!"

The third panel reveals the true extent of his preparedness. The male adventurer proudly declares, "Actually, I have 99 of every type of potion!" The inside of his bag is shown, br****** with assorted potion bottles, mainly red and blue. The adventurer adds, "Including elixirs, but I'm saving those for the final boss, at which point we'll be so over-leveled that we won't need any of them."

Finally, the fourth panel delivers the punchline. The ground is covered with an array of different weapons, from simple swords to elaborate fantasy armaments. The male character confesses, "Oh, and I still have all our old weapons 'cuz I'm terrified of selling anything we might need!" This scene humorously highlights the irrational behavior of h***ding items for future scenarios that often never come.

User comments on Imgur resonate deeply with this theme. One user reminisces, "I can't remember what it was but there was a game with one zone that inverted the damage scaling of weapons so you had to switch to your oldest worst weapon to succeed and I've been broken basically ever since." Another user humorously adds, "OH, you sold the throwaway second weapon in disc 1? You fool, you absolute nincomp***, didn't you realize you needed that in disc 3 to synthesize his ultimate weapon???"

This comic strip is a perfect depiction of the common RPG trope of item h***ding and the irrational fear of selling items that might be needed later. It brings to light the quirky yet relatable aspects of RPG gameplay, making it a hit among gamers and enthusiasts. Whether it's debating why health potions are blue or reminiscing about Final Fantasy's starter weapons, this comic strip has sparked a wave of nostalgia and laughter.

For those who have experienced the trials and tribulations of RPG inventory management, this comic strip serves as a humorous reminder of the days spent meticulously organizing and h***ding items, always preparing for a future battle that might never come.

Sell EVERYTHING, keep 1-2 potions just in case, use the rest

One, I think Final Fantasy, game required the main character's stater weapon to make the final ultimate one. Running into that turned me into a h***der for ever game since.

Yeah, but remember Ipsen's Castle in Final Fantasy IX?! Weren't you glad you kept your starter weapons?! Always better safe than sorry.

I do this. For two reasons, it's a useful item that I might need later, but mostly, I'm not interested in playing an inventory management game. I don't know why inventory management seems such a core and loved mechanic of RPGs.
