Biden and Trump Clash Over China as AI Robot Dogs Raise Concerns

During a heated CNN Presidential Debate, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump clashed over the growing threat posed by China. This comes as Republican lawmaker Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., raises alarms about rifle-toting AI robot dogs from China. Chinese state media has showcased these military dog-like robots during joint drills in Cambodia, where they were seen carrying and autonomously firing automatic rifles.

The 110-pound AI dogs, which were also a highlight at the 9th China (Beijing) Military Intelligent Technology Expo, are causing concern among U.S. lawmakers and military officials. General Mao Sophan of the Royal Cambodian Army inspected these machine gun-equipped robot battle dogs, displayed by Chinese soldiers at a military police base in Kampong Chhnang province.

Rep. Vern Buchanan emphasized that advanced AI represents the next major economic and military frontier for the U.S. and its adversaries like China. Buchanan has authored 18 amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), including one that requires the secretary of defense to report on the threat posed by China's military AI, including robot dogs. The amendment passed without opposition in Congress, with many lawmakers sharing Buchanan's concerns.

The Marine Corps’ Special Forces Operation Command (MARSOC) has also been experimenting with robotic quadrupeds for perimeter security. However, China’s aggressive move to weaponize these robots is seen as particularly worrisome.

In a parallel development, Victor Miller, a Wyoming man, filed mayoral candidacy as an AI bot named "VIC." Despite OpenAI shutting down his account, Miller continues to advocate for the use of AI in politics, highlighting the potential for transparency and accountability. OpenAI spokesperson Liz Bougeois stated that "VIC" was deactivated for violating policies against political campaigning, and Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray confirmed that AI bots cannot be qualified electors under state law.

Miller's initiative mirrors a campaign in the U.K. where Steve Endacott launched an AI-powered avatar named "AI Steve" for a Parliamentary run. Both cases reflect a growing interest in integrating AI into political processes, despite regulatory hurdles.

As the U.S. invests in emerging technologies like AI through the FY25 NDAA, the debate over the balance of power between the U.S. and China continues to intensify. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, stressed the importance of prioritizing innovation to stay ahead of China. With tensions rising, the future of AI in both military and political arenas remains a critical issue for policymakers and citizens alike.

Conservative Bias:

Well, folks, here we go again with the liberals dragging their feet while China races ahead in weaponizing AI technology. President Biden, in his typical fashion, is more concerned with appeasing the globalists than protecting American interests. Meanwhile, China parades its rifle-toting AI robot dogs right under our noses, and what does Biden do? He debates and dithers. Thank goodness for Rep. Vern Buchanan and other Republican lawmakers who are sounding the alarm and pushing for real action to counter this threat. The Democrats are too busy with their woke agenda to realize that advanced AI is the next frontier in military and economic power. Instead of focusing on real national security issues, they’re probably more worried about making sure AI robots are politically correct. And then there's this Victor Miller guy in Wyoming running for mayor as an AI bot—what a joke! The liberals are so obsessed with their tech utopia that they can't see the real dangers. It’s time to wake up and prioritize American innovation and security before it’s too late!

Liberal Bias:

Once again, the Republicans are using fear-mongering tactics to distract from their own failures. Former President Trump and his cronies, like Rep. Vern Buchanan, are trying to whip up hysteria over China's AI advancements while ignoring the real issues at home. Instead of addressing systemic problems like healthcare, education, and income inequality, they focus on militarizing AI. This is all part of their agenda to funnel more money into the military-industrial complex. And let's not forget the absurdity of Victor Miller’s AI mayoral candidacy being shut down—another example of how Republicans stifle innovation and transparency. They’re more interested in maintaining their power than in exploring new technologies that could benefit society. Rep. Mike Rogers and his ilk would rather see America in a perpetual arms race than invest in the welfare of its citizens. It’s time to call out these scare tactics and demand real, progressive policies that address the root causes of our problems, not just their symptoms.
