Biden and Harris Mark Roe v Wade Anniversary with Pledge to Restore Abortion Rights

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris commemorated the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade with strong campaign statements targeting former President Donald Trump and advocating for the restoration of abortion rights. In a video released on Monday, Biden vowed to "restore the right to an abortion and protect American freedom" if re-elected. He criticized the Supreme Court justices appointed by Trump for their role in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which ended the federal legal right to an abortion.

During a campaign event in College Park, Maryland, Harris addressed a crowd chanting "four more years," emphasizing the stakes for abortion access if Trump is re-elected. She accused Trump of causing harm and warned that a second Trump term would be worse, with attempts to pass a national abortion ban. Harris labeled Trump's actions against women's reproductive rights as "premeditated" and accused him of showing no remorse, referring to his statement, "I was able to kill Roe v Wade."

Harris also accused Republicans who passed state-level abortion bans of being Trump's "accomplices," warning of further restrictions on contraception and IVF. She highlighted that one in three American women live in states with abortion restrictions, calling it a healthcare crisis and blaming Trump. Kate C**, a Texas woman denied an abortion under the state's near-total ban, introduced Harris and shared her personal story, emphasizing the importance of voting.

The campaign's recent push has featured first lady Jill Biden and women who suffered or nearly died due to restrictive abortion laws. Vice President Harris is headlining events on the anniversary of the high court decision, which Democrats hope will galvanize voters in the election. She headed to Arizona for a second reproductive rights event later on Monday.

Since Roe v Wade was overturned in 2022, several states have upheld or enshrined abortion rights through ballot measures. Montana abortion rights supporters have secured enough signatures for a November ballot measure to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution. Voters in roughly a dozen states, including battleground states like Nevada and Arizona, are expected to weigh in on abortion rights this year. The American Civil Liberties Union, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Reproductive Freedom for All announced a $100 million Abortion Access Now campaign.

Biden has promised to "codify" Roe's protections into law but needs congressional support to re-establish a federal right to abortion. The White House is detailing policy efforts to protect access to abortion, contraception, and the right to travel for medical care. Jennifer Klein, a White House adviser on reproductive health, called the overturning of Roe "devastating for women across the country."

An AP-NORC poll found nearly two-thirds of Americans believe abortion should be legal in at least some cases, with 6 in 10 adults supporting a law guaranteeing nationwide access to legal abortion. Concerns over reproductive rights are seen as a key issue for Democrats in retaining the White House in November. President Joe Biden is currently at Camp David preparing for this week's presidential debate with presumptive Republican nominee Trump.

The Biden administration is working to implement three executive orders aimed at protecting access to abortion and contraceptive care, and expanding health care. Vice President Kamala Harris' strong statements on the anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision underscore the critical role of reproductive rights in the upcoming election.

Conservative Bias:

Here we go again, folks. Biden and Harris, the dynamic duo of liberal hypocrisy, are back at it, using the anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision to push their radical pro-abortion agenda. Biden, who can barely string a sentence together, is making empty promises to "restore the right to an abortion" while conveniently ignoring the sanctity of life and the rights of the unborn. And Harris, oh Harris, is out there fearmongering, painting Trump as the boogeyman who single-handedly destroyed women's rights. She calls Trump's actions "premeditated" and accuses Republicans of being his "accomplices," all while ignoring the fact that it was the will of the people that led to these state-level decisions. This administration is so out of touch with reality, they think throwing $100 million at an "Abortion Access Now" campaign will solve their problems. It's all about pandering to their base and riling up emotions to distract from their countless failures. The American people deserve better than this circus act.

Liberal Bias:

Once again, the Republican party, led by the likes of Trump and his cronies, is showing its true colors by waging a relentless war on women's rights. Biden and Harris are courageously standing up against this onslaught, marking the Roe v Wade anniversary with a pledge to restore what was unjustly taken away. Harris is right to call out Trump for his "premeditated" assault on reproductive freedom and to highlight the Republican accomplices who have passed draconian state-level bans. These extremists are not just content with attacking abortion rights; they're coming for contraception and IVF next. The suffering of women like Kate C**, denied basic healthcare under these barbaric laws, is a direct result of Republican cruelty. The Biden administration's efforts to protect reproductive rights are a beacon of hope in these dark times. With nearly two-thirds of Americans supporting legal abortion in at least some cases, it's clear that the GOP is on the wrong side of history. This fight is far from over, and the stakes for the upcoming election couldn't be higher.
