In a recent post on Reddit, a professional gardening service shared a laughable yet unfortunate mishap involving a labourer and a customer’s climber plant. The image accompanying the post has triggered a wave of reactions and comments, making it a viral sensation.

The image depicts a person standing outside a brick house next to a doorway. The house features a brownish-red brick facade and white accents around the window and doorway. The individual, dressed in a brown jacket, gray hoodie, and dark pants, is holding a leaf blower or a similar gardening tool, indicating they are engaged in yard work.

The doorway, highlighted by a yellow front door with white trim and an archway above, adds to the picturesque setting. To the right of the door is a large window with white framing and a protruding window sill. Adjacent to the window is a dense, climbing plant growing up the wall.

A notable feature in the image is a green line drawn horizontally, intersecting the plant. This line marks where the plant should be trimmed or cut, as per the customer's instructions. However, it appears that the labourer misunderstood these instructions, leading to an unexpected outcome.

Reddit users were quick to react:

- One user humorously noted, "He looks so proud of himself! 'Look boss, I done did whatcha told me.' 🤪 He also looks high af."

- Another user, drawing a parallel to a famous fictional character, commented, "Is your labourer Amelia Bedelia?"

- A user shared a similar experience, "Must be the same guy I had working on my lawn. His only task was to mow, but he took it upon himself to cut down three trees he deemed 'too tall.' Further, he cut the trunks several inches above the ground, leaving stabby stalks someone can trip on."

- Reflecting on a previous job, a user said, "Reminds me of when I worked in a bookstore, and we told a new employee to shelve the new books alphabetically by author. Which she did, by first name."

- Another user suggested, "You may, in future, elect to refer to your business simply as ‘a gardening business’."

Despite the mistake, some users appreciated the labourer’s effort and humorously speculated on what he could achieve with more powerful tools. A user remarked, "And just think - if he can do that with a leaf blower, imagine what he can achieve with a chainsaw."

Others were more critical, with comments like, "Correction: you RAN a professional gardening service. Now it’s just people with garden equipment hacking away at things. Depending on how this is handled, the one-star review writes itself…" and "You do not run a professional gardening service."

The image and the accompanying story serve as a reminder of the importance of clear communication and supervision in any professional service. While the incident is undoubtedly a major screw-up, it has provided plenty of laughs and a much-needed break from the usual online content.

The lesson here? Always double-check instructions and perhaps keep a closer eye on new employees. After all, as one user put it, "This guy is an idiot," but everyone makes mistakes – and sometimes, those mistakes become unforgettable stories.

You may, in future, elect to refer to your business simply as ‘a gardening business’. Your man looks like he could identify weed from 100 yards, but not know the difference between a weed and a daffodil. ** edit for the avoidance of doubt ** Kudos to the labourer for both choosing to work and posing for the photo - it’d be easy for him to do neither. I’m sure he can learn from his error and hopefully the householder also saw the funny side. I hope you keep him on, hopefully he is a hoot to work with. And just think - if he can do that with a leaf blower imagine what he can achieve with a chainsaw.

Correction: you RAN a professional gardening service. Now it’s just people with garden equipment hacking away at things. Depending on how this is handled the one-star review writes itself…

I didn't realize what was wrong at first, then it suddenly clicked and I gasped. That is a BIG screw up! I think your employee is the reason people get drug tested for work.
