Dive into the captivating world of "Guardian" by the talented Pet_Foolery. This intriguing comic strip unfolds during a serene night in a rural setting, where a pair of dogs, one large and one small, encounter an unseen threat.

The story begins with the smaller dog, endearingly curious, asking, “Look, Mama, where big Jack go?” The larger dog, with a more experienced demeanor, senses something unusual and replies, “I think maybe he smell somethin.” This sets the stage for a tense and gripping narrative.

As the panels progress, the larger dog confronts an unseen entity in the darkness, demanding, “You, in the dark. I know you’re in there. All'a you. Why are you here?” The ominous response, “We’re hungry,” heightens the suspense. The guardian dog stands firm, stating, “There’s no food for you here,” showcasing its bravery and protective instincts.

The tension escalates when a shadowy figure emerges, declaring their intention to take the sheep. The larger dog, undeterred, asserts that the sheep belong to its master and are under its protection. The unseen entity reveals their numbers, creating a dramatic standoff, but the guardian dog remains resolute, emphasizing, “There's enough of us.”

This comic has garnered significant attention and praise from its readers. One user quoted G.K. Chesterton, saying, "Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die." Another commented on the strength and determination of the guardian dog, saying, "Before he went to live with Pixie, I could see this as being a job for Brutus."

Pet_Foolery's "Guardian" has resonated with many, drawing comparisons to other beloved series and highlighting the timeless relevance of courage and protection. The well-crafted dialogue and the evocative art style make this comic a must-read for fans of gripping and emotional storytelling.

there was a case in germany where a shepard got the order to not make his guard dogs bark after 22h and during lunch time. The neighbours would feel annoyed by it. bureaucracy etc at its finest

F*** I want to read this series so f***in bad. Reminds me of Warriors.

I worked with LGDs and this is the ideal scenario - they don't actually fight anything, they just bark and scare the predators off. Eliminating predators isn't a good goal, as you actually want them hunting wildlife that can spread disease to your animals (especially true of opossums if you have horses). Only once actually had a fight, when the cur dog fought a cougar. The bigger LGDs never fought anything.

Some people only understand and abide by violence and force; you need to convey to them that there's too high a chance of them coming to a net detriment by engaging you with violence and force if you want to avoid a violent altercation.

These dogs usually have spiked collars, and they can sometimes take on entire wolf packs by themselves
