In a poignant black-and-white photograph from 1960, Otto Frank, the father of Anne Frank, stands alone in the attic where his family hid from the Germans during World War II. This image not only captures a moment frozen in time but also serves as a sobering reminder of the horrors of the Holocaust and the resilience of those who lived through it.

Otto Frank, dressed in a dark suit and tie, gazes solemnly ahead in the dimly lit attic space. The room, with its low ceiling and exposed wooden beams, reflects the aged and worn atmosphere of a place that bore witness to a harrowing chapter in history. A large wooden post stands in the center, partially obscuring Otto's torso, while a door with a crosshatched window and a steep, narrow staircase in the background add to the haunting ambiance.

The attic, once a place of refuge for the Frank family, evokes a sense of fear, hunger, and monotony that lasted 761 days, devoid of sunlight and fresh air. Otto's return to this space is especially heart-wrenching as he is the sole survivor of his family, making the moment even more profound.

The photograph has sparked a range of emotions and reflections from viewers. One user commented, "It baffles me that Holocaust deniers exist," highlighting the ongoing struggle against historical revisionism. Another user shared a resource for those wanting to explore the attic and other spaces further: [Anne Frank House](https://www.annefrank.org/en/anne-frank/het-achterhuis/).

The image also serves as a stark reminder of the broader implications of war and persecution. As one commenter poignantly noted, "She applied for refugee status but the American consulate in Amsterdam never processed it. Now I think about how many other 'Anne Franks' there absolutely are right now all over the world today. Palestine, Ukraine, Iran, China, Afghanistan, Somalia."

Otto Frank's return to the attic is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of remembering and educating about the atrocities of the past. This photograph is more than just an image; it is a call to pay attention, reflect, and ensure that history does not repeat itself.

For those interested in delving deeper into Anne Frank's story and the space where her family hid, visiting the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is highly recommended. It is a haunting yet essential experience that brings history to life and honors the memory of those who suffered during one of the darkest times in human history.

Anne Frank's father Otto visits the attic where she hid from people like a third of today's East Germans.

How do you even go on after that?

Some estimates suggest 30% of a religious group are extremists. If you use that then 63% of the USA is Christian and 30% of that is extremists. Out of 333 million people in the US that put 62 million people as Christian extremists.... Pretty close to the amount that voted for Trump.

Speaking of genocide. Stop the genocide in Palestine.

She applied for refugee status but the American consulate in Amsterdam never processed it. Now I think about how many other "Anne Franks" there absolutely are right now all over the world today. Palestine, Ukraine, Iran, China, Afghanistan, Somalia. Seems to me that we should just have a declaration starting today that anyone going to war should just be destroyed by all other countries. No more war. Lets farm.
