There are some slight misunderstandings here. Crows aren't giving gifts. They're trying to get rewards. This is more akin to commerce or bartering than gift giving as they've learned they can sometimes exchange certain items to certain people for food.

We have a bunch that regularly come by for some peanut buttered bread. One has his left foot completely bent backwards, but it doesn't seem to bother him too much. We call him 'Badfoot'. They also like shelled peanuts.

*Birds* have regional accents/dialects. A Robin in Michigan sounds slightly different from a Robin in Oklahoma.

Humans did an experiment where they wore a disguise and were mean to crows. Several (bird) generations later, if anyone puts on the disguise, the crows still dive bomb them.

I still love the story about a girl that feed crows when she was a child and as a teen/adult at one point drooped her camera lens thing from a bridge(accident). not only did the crows see that they also knew where to deliver it because it was at her bird feeded that evening. the crow recognized her far from home, they recognized that she lost something and they knew she uses to feed them.

I have a bunch of birds I feed regularly in my garden, there's a trio of crows. They haven't given me any loot yet, but often will group up together someplace they can watch me, often times I'll look out the window and see at least one or two. I bet they talk so much crow s*** about my dumb shoes or something
