Biden Outspends Trump Nearly 6-to-1 in June but Trump Maintains Cash Advantage
Updated Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 6:06 AM CDT
President Joe Biden’s campaign dramatically outspent former President Donald Trump nearly 6-to-1 in June. However, despite the substantial spending differential, Trump’s operation extended its cash advantage over the Biden campaign.
According to new campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, President Biden has raised more money than Trump both in June and over the entire election cycle. Biden’s campaign spent nearly $60 million in June, compared to Trump’s $10 million, most of which was on direct mail. By the end of June, the Biden campaign had nearly $96 million in the bank, while Trump's campaign reported $128 million left in its campaign account.
Trump’s entire operation, including joint fundraising committees and the national parties, had $281 million in cash at the end of June. On the other hand, Biden’s entire operation had $237 million in cash, including joint fundraising committees and the national parties.
Biden’s campaign has spent tens of millions on advertising in battleground states but has seen little effect in the polls. The campaign’s largest expense category in June was advertising, where they spent $48 million. Despite these efforts, some Democratic big-dollar donors are concerned about Biden's poor debate performance and are calling for him to abandon his bid for a second term.
Vice President Kamala Harris, viewed as the most likely successor if Biden exits the race, headlined a fundraiser in Cape Cod over the weekend, bringing in more than $2 million. Campaign finance experts suggest that any remaining funds in Biden's campaign accounts would transfer to Harris if she becomes the nominee.
Trump’s fundraising saw a slowdown in June after a post-conviction surge in May, where he raised $19 million in donations above $200 on the day of his conviction in the New York hush money case. Trump's strongest fundraising day of the year through June 30 was May 30, the day of his conviction by a Manhattan jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to an adult film star.
The Trump 47 Committee, a joint fundraising committee, also supports a leadership PAC, Save America, which reported paying over $827,000 in legal expenses and carrying $1.64 million of legal debt into July. The super PAC backing Trump, MAGA Inc., entered July with nearly $114 million in available cash, with two-thirds of its $22.5 million raised in June coming from three donors: Robert Bigelow, Linda McMahon, and tobacco giant RAI Services.
On the Democratic side, FF PAC, a pro-Biden super PAC, raised $32.8 million in June and reported just shy of $122 million cash on hand. Major donors to Future Forward in June included Reid Hoffman ($3 million), Eric Schmidt ($1.6 million), and James Murdoch and his wife Kathryn ($1 million total for the couple).
The Democratic National Committee outspent the Republican National Committee in June, $26 million to $19.4 million. However, the Republican National Committee raised nearly $67 million in June, compared to $39 million for the Democratic National Committee.
Dozens of staffers who were on Trump’s campaign payroll are now paid by the RNC, and America PAC, a super PAC directed by Trump’s allies, is spending millions on paid canvassing. Meanwhile, Make America Great Again Inc., another super PAC supporting Trump, has been running ads mostly in Arizona and Pennsylvania and raised another $22 million in June.
As the campaigns gear up for the critical months ahead, the financial dynamics between Biden and Trump will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the election landscape.
Conservative Bias:
Well, folks, here we go again! The Biden campaign is throwing away millions of dollars on ineffective advertising and floundering debate performances. Despite outspending Trump nearly 6-to-1 in June, Biden's campaign is still struggling to gain any real traction. But what else would you expect from the Democrats? They’re masters at wasting taxpayer money and now they’re doing the same with campaign funds. Biden's desperate attempt to stay relevant is a joke—his own big donors are calling for him to step down. Meanwhile, President Trump, despite the liberal media's constant attacks and a biased legal system, continues to maintain a cash advantage. The American people see through the Democrat's charade and are rallying behind Trump. The Democrats can throw all the money they want at this race, but they can't buy the American spirit!
Liberal Bias:
Here we go again, folks! The Republican Party, led by the scandal-ridden Donald Trump, is still managing to rake in millions despite his numerous legal troubles. Biden’s campaign, trying to fight the good fight, is outspending Trump 6-to-1 in an effort to save our democracy from this authoritarian menace. But what do we see? Trump’s campaign, bolstered by shady super PACs and dark money from billionaire donors, keeps a cash advantage. It’s a testament to the corrupt, money-driven nature of the GOP. They’re using their funds to spread lies and misinformation, while Biden is investing in critical battleground states. The Republicans are outspending Democrats in key areas, and it’s clear their strategy is to buy their way back into power. This is a fight for the soul of America, and the Republicans are playing dirty as usual.
