Fear of animals (Gallery)

Fear of animals
I assumed this was clickbait, so I poked around for the post in question.

Whether he meant it as a joke or not, it's an unkind comparison, and what some would interpret as a dog whistle to the White supremacist groups in the US (and abroad), who have quoted the administration in their publications as evidence that the White House supports their cause.

Back to the subject at hand: the wall. The proposal of a wall at the US/Mexico border ignores the fact that nearly half of those in the US illegally got a legal visa, then overstayed their welcome (sauce: http://cmsny.org/publications/jmhs-visa-overstays-border-wall/). Criminals are not "pouring" across the border. American border patrol is just not that incompetent. Surely the White House must know that.

If they're reading their own reports, they know. Whether they care is another issue, as evidenced by, among other things, the bizarre recent interview between Chris Wallace and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, in which Sanders discussed "terrorists."

You know you've messed up when Fox, the network that has been broadcasting this administration's talking points (and sometimes guiding them) invites the White House Press Secretary for what should be a friendly interview, and then spends the whole time correcting her. This interview was just bizarre. A total disregard of the facts is in play at all levels in this administration.

From the interview:

Sanders: “We know that roughly, nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists come into our country illegally, and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is at our southern border.”

“Do you know where those 4,000 people come — where they’re captured?,” Wallace asked her. “Airports.”

“Not always,” she said.

“At airports,” he insisted. “The State Department says there hasn’t been any terrorists that they’ve found coming across the southern border with Mexico.”

So if immigrants aren't entering primarily at the border, why is the First Family comparing law-abiding citizens of other countries with animals? The false belief that immigrants commit more crime than legal American citizens is the source of this bizarre fear.

Plenty of studies have shown that in fact, your average American is more likely to commit crime than an immigrant. In places where the immigrant population is high, crime is lower (especially violent crime). This includes major cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc.

The bottom line is that more immigrants does not equal more crime, because they're not animals. They're people.

Here's my bleeding-heart libtard SJW snowflake conclusion: Do we need border security? Of course we do, so let's be smart about it, and put our money into efforts that will have a real impact.
